TRADE SHOW
BOOTH DESIGN
Productive Displays designs trade show booths in Chicago that work as hard on the floor as they do in the render — 3D concept, structural layout, graphics, and a build plan, from a local team that also fabricates what it draws.
What's in the Design Package
Design is only worth something if it fabricates. Ours starts with a 3D concept and ends with a build plan a fabricator — ours — can price to the dollar.
3D Concept & Rendering
A photorealistic 3D model of your booth before anything is cut or printed, so you can walk through the layout, sight lines, and graphics at actual scale.
Structural & Panel Layout
Your design is mapped to standard 2-foot panel grids and 8-foot booth heights so it fabricates cleanly, passes venue review, and drays without surprises.
Graphics & Branding Layout
Copy hierarchy, product placement, and call-to-action layout tuned to how visitors actually walk a show floor — not how a brochure looks stacked on a counter.
Cost & Timeline Planning
An itemized build plan with a real production schedule, so your design is priced to your budget and your show date is treated as a hard deadline, not a hope.
How to Design a Trade Show Booth That Attracts Visitors
Most booths look alike because nobody made decisions. Five moves separate the booths people stop at from the booths they walk through.
Define the job
Every booth has one job: capture leads, launch a product, generate media, or recruit. We start with what the booth must do, because that decides where the money goes.
Pick size and footprint
10x10, 10x20, 15x20, or 20x20 island — chosen against traffic flow, budget, and how many people the space has to hold at once, including storage and a back-of-house corner.
Give it one focal point
The strongest booths commit to a single visual idea — one shape, one color, one message — because a visitor decides in two seconds whether to stop or keep walking.
Spec the materials and light
Fabric, SEG, backlit film, aluminum or composite, LED lighting and monitor mounts, each chosen to survive repeat setup and to read clearly under harsh ceiling light.
Test it in 3D
You review the render at scale, we iterate, and only then do we release to fabrication — which is the difference between a booth that works and one that is expensive to live with.
Standard Trade Show Booth Sizes
Frame panels are standard 2 feet wide and booths about 8 feet tall, which keeps hardware interchangeable and reprints cheap across shows and years.
10x10
3.05m × 3.05m — the standard inline booth
Most common footprint; ideal for 2–3 staff plus a product display corner
10x20
3.05m × 6.1m — doubles the inline space
Separate zones: demo, meeting, and graphics wall
15x20
4.57m × 6.1m — premium inline or corner
High-traffic corner locations and larger product lines
20x20 island
6.1m × 6.1m — 360° visibility
Flagship presence with all-sides access and overhead structures
Trade Show Booth Design in Chicago
We design and fabricate at 546 York Road in Bensenville, IL — about 20 minutes from O’Hare and a straight run to McCormick Place, Navy Pier, and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. That means your rendering can be a booth you can walk through, review in person, and have delivered and installed for the show.
Frequently Asked
Trade Show Booth Design — Common Questions
What is included in your trade show booth design service?
A 3D concept and rendering, structural specifications that fabricate to standard panel sizes, a graphics layout matched to your branding, and an itemized build plan you can price against. If we build the booth, design is built into the project; you can also hire design-only if you are fabricating elsewhere.
How much does trade show booth design cost?
Design-only work is scoped per project and quoted up front, based on booth size and level of 3D detail. When design and build are combined, the design effort is absorbed into the build price — the largest share of your investment goes to the physical booth, not drawings of it.
What are standard trade show booth sizes?
Inline booths are typically 10×10, 10×20, or 15×20 feet, with 20×20 island booths for premium visibility. Standard frame panels are 2 feet wide, standard booth height is about 8 feet, and most venues cap structure height to protect egress sight lines. Double-deck and overhead structures follow venue-specific engineering rules.
Can you design a booth on a small budget?
Yes. A lot of small-budget impact comes from sequencing: a single strong backwall, one focal color, and one call to action outperform cluttered booths. We will design for what the budget can actually build, not an idealized render that costs three times more to fabricate.
What do I need to start a booth design project?
Your booth size, show date and venue, brand assets (logo, colors, fonts), the products or message the booth must communicate, and a budget range. Send those to us and we will confirm the design scope and timeline in writing.
