The 30-Second Answer

Three Ranges That Cover Almost Every Booth

Portable Displays

Retractable banner stands, tabletops & telescopic systems, printed graphic included.

$1,500 – $5,000

10x10 Backwalls

A complete inline booth — pop-up or tension-fabric backwall, tables, standard graphics.

$15,000+

Custom Islands

Fabricated 20x20 and larger builds with counters, lighting, power and screens.

By Booth Footprint

What a Trade Show Booth Costs, by Size

Most cost questions are really about footprint. These are the bands we quote for a complete, furnished display at each size.

The Variables

What Actually Moves the Price

A display is only as expensive as the choices inside it. Four factors drive almost every quote we send.

Size & Shape

Square footage and whether the booth is inline or an island. More walls, more height, and more square feet all add fabrication time and material.

Materials & Finish

Tension fabric and aluminum modular are lean and fast. Wood joinery, paint, and specialty finishes add craftsmanship — and cost.

Graphics & Lighting

Backlit panels, printed fascia, and LED lighting lift a booth on the floor but move the number. Screens and monitors add power requirements.

Standard vs. Custom

Standard systems are priced on the page and ship in one to two weeks. Custom fabrication is quoted per project but is built to be reused show after show.

Buy or Rent?

When to Buy and When to Rent

The cheapest booth is the one that matches how often you actually exhibit. Here is the test we use.

Buy When…

  • You exhibit the same booth size multiple times a year
  • You want a look that is fully tailored to your brand
  • Two or three years of rental would exceed the purchase price
  • You have space to store the display between shows

Rent When…

  • The show is a one-off or a one-year commitment
  • You need an unusually large footprint for a single event
  • You are testing a new market or new display format
  • You would rather pay per-show and skip storage

Frequently Asked

Trade Show Display Cost — Common Questions

How much does a trade show display cost?

Most exhibitors spend in one of three bands. A portable display — a retractable banner stand or tabletop unit — runs roughly $175 to $800. A complete 10x10 backwall, whether pop-up or tension fabric, lands between $1,500 and $5,000. Custom fabricated island exhibits are quoted per project and generally start around $15,000. Where you fall depends on size, materials, graphics, and how many shows you plan to reuse the display.

How much does a 10x10 trade show booth cost?

A 10x10 (100 square foot) inline booth with a pop-up or fabric backwall, a couple of tables, and standard graphics generally runs $1,500 to $5,000 to buy. Add lighting, power, and a printed fascia and you approach the top of that range. Stepping up to a furnished 10x20 pushes the number past $5,000 toward $15,000.

How much does a retractable banner stand cost in Chicago?

At Productive Displays a retractable banner stand with a full-color printed graphic starts at $175 (Penta, 24 inch wide) and runs to about $800 for our widest premium systems. Our most popular Orient and Pacific systems start at $269 each. Every price includes the base, the printed graphic, and the carry case. Replacement graphics from $225 refresh a stand you already own.

How much does a pop-up trade show display cost?

An 8-foot pop-up system starts around $975 (fabric panels) to $1,399 (photomural panels). A 10-foot system runs about $1,400 to $2,550 depending on fabric versus photomural. Twenty-foot configurations — gullwing, serpentine, or straight — run about $2,900 for fabric panels to $5,500 for full photomural.

Is it cheaper to rent or buy a trade show display?

Rent when the show is a one-off, the footprint is unusually large, or you are testing a format before committing. Buy when you exhibit the same size repeatedly — a display that pays for itself over two or three shows almost always costs less long-term. As a rule of thumb, if two years of rental exceeds the purchase price of an equivalent display and you have somewhere to store it, buying is the better call. We can model both numbers for your specific show.

What determines the cost of a custom trade show booth?

Five things move the number: the footprint and shape (inline versus island, and wall height), the fabrication level (aluminum modular, tension fabric, or wood joinery), the graphic finish, lighting and technology (screens, counters, power), and reuse life. A booth engineered to last five shows costs more per build but less per show per square foot. We quote a number before we render, so you know the price before you pay for the 3D model.

How much does a trade show exhibit rental cost?

Rentals are priced by configuration — a modular 10-foot or 20-foot backwall kit, rental counters, or a 20x20 double-deck system — plus shipping and installation & dismantling. Send us your show date, venue, and footprint and we will quote the kit, freight, and setup. Peak Chicago show season books popular configurations quickly, so reserve as soon as your booth space is confirmed.

How much to replace the graphics on a display I already own?

Replacement graphics are far cheaper than a new unit because you keep the hardware. A replacement banner graphic starts around $225, and we reprint panels for Abex, Featherlite, Nimlok, Nomadic, and Skyline systems. Bring us the hardware or the model number and we will match the fit.
